CORONAVIRUS

This virus seems to be starting to affect us all, where will it end? I hope we can survive this awful time and still have a studio at the end of it.

In the meantime we have put together some videos for you to do at home.

See the links following, where it says Pilates with Jane and Amy and click on the link, it will take you to the videos on Youtube. 

We have now added   a number of short videos for you to do including Amy doing spirals.  Pick 2 or 3 of the shorter ones to put together to form a full body work out.  Have fun mixing and matching. 

You can subscribe to our Youtube channel so that you get notifications of a new video being uploaded.

Mat Based and Reformer Pilates in Dumfries

 

Your instructor is Jane Henderson who qualified in March 2007, through ‘Future Fit’, a fitness training company based in London. She holds the OCR Level 2 Certificate in Teaching Exercise and Fitness in Mat Based Pilates and is registered at Instructor Level 3 with ‘The Register of Exercise Professionals of the United Kingdom'.  Jane completed the level 3 portfolio for Mat Based Pilates in March 2010.  She is also qualified in teaching Pilates on the Reformer, a piece of equipment invented by Joseph Pilates which strengthens, lengthens and tones the body.  Ideal for re-aligning the body and strengthening weak muscles to protect the joints. An enjoyable machine to work on to help with re-habilitation after an accident or operation.


Studio


Jane opened her own studio in Dumfries in 2011, she offers classes from beginner to advanced level pilates and now reformer classes.
There are now 3 studios which will hold up to 20 people for mat classes and 10 for reformer classes.  

There are 6 instructors altogether to offer a range of class times.

Amy Henderson. Amy qualified in August 2013, she is also qualified to teach pilates on the Core Fitness Roller, a new and amazing piece of equipment that is very versatile and challenging. Amy is also a Zumba instructor, Michael King Spirals and Barre instructor.

NEW CLASS NOW STARTED WITH AMY, MICHAEL KINGS BARRE - BALLET/DANCE WORK OUT AT THE BARRE- STRENGTHENS LEGS, GLUTES AND TONES THE BODY - SEEK OUT YOUR INNER BALLERINA!!

Amy qualified in November 2014 to become a Bowen Practitioner, now offering treatments at the studio in Dumfries, but also in Moffat and Dalbeattie.

Lisa Corbett. Lisa qualified in 2013 and is also a fitness instructor at DG1. 

Clive Scott. Clive qualified in November 2014, Clive is also a personal trainer and takes classes on a Tuesday at 6.15pm, Wednesday at 6.30pm and Fridays at 9.30 am and 11.00 am.

Kate Langton, recently joined the team, trained in Australia, Kate takes Barre class on Saturday mornings but also takes mat classes and reformer. 

Andrea James, takes the Dancefit class but also covers Pilates classes.

There are also Yoga, Tai Chi and Dancefit classes for you to come and try. Check the timetable for times.


For more details please contact Jane to discuss which class would suit your ability or view the timetable on this site, however these times may change and more classes will be added in due course.

One to One


If you do not like the idea of exercising in front of others or would prefer individual advice on each exercise Jane and Amy are both available to teach one to one sessions, times can be arranged to suit.
One to one sessions can be either mat based pilates, on the Reformer or the Core fitness Roller.


Bowtech


Jane and her daughter Amy are both Bowtech practitioners, Jane qualified in November, 2009, Amy in November, 2014.  For more information on what the Bowen therapy is please view the Bowtech page on this site. Treatments are carried out either in your own home or in treatment rooms at the Pilates studio on St Marys Industrial Estate in Dumfries.

The combination of Bowen therapy and Pilates can help improve many muscular and skeletal problems especially lower back and hip pain caused by a variety of reasons.
